Target Groups

The widespread adoption of AI brings significant challenges for organizations, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that often lack the resources to effectively support their employees in navigating this transformation. Without proper guidance, training, and external assistance, many SMEs struggle to integrate AI technologies into their daily operations. To ensure a smooth and successful adoption, it is essential to provide employees, managers, and educators with accessible, practical, and relevant AI education.

Against this background, the "AI Literacy in SME" project has identified three key target groups that will directly benefit from its initiatives:

SME Employees without IT/AI Expertise

Many employees in SMEs do not have prior experience with AI or IT expertise. However, they will increasingly encounter AI-driven processes and tools in their daily work. To empower these employees, the project will:

  • Develop tailored learning resources that introduce AI in an accessible and non-technical way, addressing interdisciplinary topics and incorporating emotional and motivational aspects to ease engagement.
  • Provide engaging educational materials, such as videos, interactive tutorials, and hands-on exercises that demonstrate AI applications relevant to different job roles.
  • Enable employees to use AI effectively in their work by fostering an understanding of its capabilities, limitations, and potential impact on their daily tasks.

By equipping employees with foundational AI knowledge, the project helps them overcome uncertainty and skepticism, enabling them to work more efficiently and confidently with AI-driven tools.

SME Managers and Leaders

Successful AI integration in SMEs requires leadership that not only understands AI concepts but also knows how to strategically implement them within the organization. To support SME managers and decision-makers, the project will:

  • Provide AI training materials that include key insights on AI adoption at a managerial level, building upon the resources designed for employees while adding leadership-focused elements.
  • Guide managers in developing AI strategies aligned with organizational goals, ensuring that AI integration enhances productivity and business growth.
  • Address ethical considerations and staff motivation, helping managers create a positive environment for AI adoption and support employees in embracing technological change.

With this knowledge, SME leaders will be better equipped to make informed decisions about AI deployment, ensuring that their businesses remain competitive in the digital economy.

Educators, Trainers, and Teaching Staff in Vocational Education and Training (VET)

Educators play a crucial role in preparing the workforce for the AI-driven future. To support teachers, trainers, and other education professionals in integrating AI into their curricula, the project will:

  • Develop specialized training materials for educators that cover AI concepts, applications, and effective pedagogical strategies.
  • Provide ready-to-use teaching resources, including pedagogical frameworks, technical guidelines, and content-focused modules that help educators confidently introduce AI literacy to their students.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching approaches, including virtual, digital, and unplugged learning methods, ensuring that participants can experience firsthand how AI algorithms work.

By enhancing the AI knowledge and teaching competencies of educators, the project ensures that vocational education and training institutions can effectively prepare students for AI-driven workplaces, fostering a workforce that is ready for the digital transformation.

The "AI Literacy in SME" project goes beyond simply providing knowledge—it actively empowers SMEs, their employees, and educators to embrace AI with confidence. By delivering targeted educational resources, the project strengthens the digital competencies of SMEs, enhances organizational readiness for AI adoption, and fosters a future-proof workforce. With these efforts, AI becomes an accessible and practical tool that drives innovation, efficiency, and long-term success for small and medium-sized enterprises.
